New Mercedes-AMG GT R PRO
The new Mercedes-AMG GT R PRO Coupe – a more extreme take on the AMG GT R – goes on sale in the UK from £188,345, £40k more than the GT R.
It’s nearly three years since the Mercedes-AMG GT R arrived as Mercedes delivered a track-focused take on the AMG GT, aimed at the Porsche 911 GT3 RS.But it’s perhaps fair to say that the GT R was more 911 GT3 than GT3 RS, so Mercedes is back with another – even more track-focused – version of the GT R to up the ante, with the GT R Pro announced last year. And now it’s on sale in the UK.
Despite the ‘PRO’ badge, the GT R Pro comes with the same 4.0 litre bi-turbo engine with 577bhp as the regular GT R, enough to get to 62mph in 3.6 seconds and on to a top speed just shy of 200mph.
But Mercedes has played elsewhere to deliver fine-tuning of the aerodynamics to create more downforce, thrown in new suspension and a set of lightweight bucket seats too.
The spec isn’t too measly either, with 10.25″ digital instrument panel and multimedia display, carbon ceramic brakes, roll cage, 19/20″ alloys, Burmester Sound, Keyless, Carbon Pack, Track Pack, Active Aerodynamics, AMG Ride Control with adjustable dampers, limited slip diff, Parking Package and a set of light green racing stripes.
Now on sale, the Mercedes-AMG GT R PRO costs £188,345, £40k more than the GT R. First UK deliveries expected in May.
