The second variant of the new C-Class – the 2015 Mercedes C-Class Estate – was revealed last month offering proper load-lugging abilities together with the C-Class’s mini S-Class goodness.
Just three versions will be available at launch – the C 200, C 220 BlueTec and C 250 BlueTec – with the C 220 and C 250 sharing different power versions of Mercedes’ 2.1 litre diesel and the C 200 getting the 2.0 litre petrol.
The C 200 delivers 181 bhp and comes with a standard six-speed manual or optional seven-speed auto ‘box and manages to return 51.4mpg, emissions of 128g/km and costs from £28,055.
The C 220 BlueTec Diesel gets 168bhp, can manage 65.7mpg and costs from £30,565 and the more powerful C 250 BlueTec gets 201bhp, costs from £33,220 and does 62.8mpg.
The initial range of engines will be joined later in the year by the C 200 BlueTec and the C 300 BlueTec Hybrid.
Trim choices for the new C-Class Estate are SE, Sport and AMG Line plus the option of ‘Packages’to add more toys to the standard trim levels.
The Executive Package for the SE models adds Garmin Map Pilot, heated front seats and chrome roof rails for £995, the Premium Package adds a Panoramic glass roof, Keyless Go, ambient lighting and electric memory seats for £1,595 and the Premium Plus also throws in Burmeister sound and COMAND for £2,795.
You can also add in the Driving assist Package (Blind Spot Assist, Distronic Plus, Lane-Keep Assist and Pre-Safe) to the Sport and AMG Line trim for £1,495, the AirMATIC Agility Package, which adds self-levelling adjustable suspension for £895 and even an Air-Balance Package for nice smells in the cabin.
The new Mercedes C-Class Estate arrives in Mercedes’ UK showrooms in September 2014.
