New Nissan GT-R teased for New York
A new Nissan GT-R is being teased ahead of a debut at the New York Motor Show. Is this a facelift for the current car, or an all-new GT-R?
With the New York Motor Show getting closer, car makers are teasing their wares, and the latest to join in is Nissan, with a tease for the Nissan GT-R.For once, we have no trouble working out that the tease is for the GT-R, but is this a facelift for the current car, an all-new GT-R, or could it be a limited edition model. Nissan aren’t saying.
But although there is a chance this could be the first look at the next generation GT-R, it does seem far more likely that what Nissan are teasing is a final facelift of the R35 GT-R, as we weren’t expecting the new GT-R until late in 2017.
Assuming this is a facelift, we will no doubt get the usual bumpers, grille, alloys and interior trim tweaks to set the new model apart from the old, and there’s a chance we could also see the GT-R’s 3.8 litre V6 endowed with a little more power than its current 542bhp.
We might also see the GT-R’s interior given something more than just a mild makeover, as Nissan has declared they want to take the next GT-R more upmarket, not just in terms of performance and dynamics but also in terms of quality and materials. This, if t is the GT-R facelift, could give us a taste of what’s to come from the new GT-R in a year or so’s time.
All will be revealed in New York in a week’s time.
