The Nissan Juke-R – a compact crossover with the heart of a GT-R – is officially revealed as a one-off, but with the prospect of a production model.
Just over a week ago we reported that Nissan were working on a ‘Super Juke’, a version of the cute urban warrior Juke with underpinnings from the Nissan GT-R. And now it’s official – welcome the Nissan Juke-R.
despite our earlier report on the Juke-R promising the prospect of a mad Juke as an addition to the Juke lineup – albeit an extreme version – Nissan are calling the 520bhp Juke-R a concept. Which is probably sensible.
But Nissan do say that the Juke-R has the prospect to become a production model if there’s enough interest.
Well, we can be sure there will be enough interest in the Juke-R to light up car sites and forums, but whether anyone will be prepared to pay as much for a Juke-R as a GT-R is probably another question altogether.
Still, with the engine from Godzilla delivering 520bhp through a modified version of the GT-R’s 4WD gubbins and its six-speed transaxle, you can expect blistering performance from the Juke-R – around 4 seconds to 60mph and a top speed of over 170mph.
Nissan are building just two Juke-Rs which will come with an aggressive bodykit and sit much lower than their less powerful siblings. But they will be road legal, so we will get to find out what they can do in the real world. And the Juke-Rs will be ready to start testing next month.
How good is it to see Nissan playing silly buggers with its little urban crossover?

So the GT-R is boring to drive and the Juke is ugly.
But combine them and you get an insanely fun loony little car. Brilliant, that makes a lot of sense.
