The Nissan LEAF Nismo RC is an electric LEAF race car concept with four-wheel drive from two electric motors delivering an un-Leaf like 322bhp.
The Nissan LEAF has turned in to a properly appealing mainstream car in its second iteration, but despite its increase in power and range it’s no sports car.
But what happens in Nissan throws some extreme performance mods at the LEAF to increase its power and performance? The answer is this, the new Nissan LEAF Nismo RC Concept.
Developed by Nissan’s NISMO racing – and very different to the recently revealed LEAF Nismo – it gets four-wheel drive, a massively restyled body and performance that would shame many supercars.
The electric motors produce 321bhp and an enormous 640lb/ft of torque which is enough to blast this LEAF to 62mph in just 3.4 seconds thanks, in no small part, to a weight of just 1,220kg achieved with the use of a full carbon fibre monocoque and lots of lightweight materials.
Nissan Executive VP Daniele Schillaci said:
The all-new LEAF NISMO RC shows how we’re setting our sights even higher when it comes to raw power and performance – making electric vehicles even more exciting for customers.
It’s our most thrilling expression yet of the philosophy of Nissan Intelligent Mobility.
The Nissan LEAF Nismo RC will officially debut at the NISMO Festival at Fuji International Speedway tomorrow alongside Nissan’s new Formula E race car, with Nissan planning to build half a dozen to demonstrate at events around the world.
