Porsche Cayenne Turbo S E-hybrid confirmed
Porsche has confirmed the arrival of the Porsche Cayenne (and Cayenne Coupe) Turbo S E-hybrid this year with at least 671bhp.
Almost exactly two years ago we reported that a Porsche Cayenne Turbo S E-Hybrid was on the way to give Porsche the most powerful SUV they’ve ever offered. We had expected it to have arrived by now, but we finally have confirmation of its arrival from Porsche boss Oliver Blume, speaking to Evo, who confirmed the new plug-in variant for the Cayenne to top the range.
Blume wasn’t going to be drawn on exactly how much power the Turbo S E-hybrid will offer in the Cayenne, but it’s not too much of a stretch to think it will be at least the 671bhp you can already have in the Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid, which will give Porsche’s big SUV a 0-62mph of around 3.5 seconds.
Assuming that’s the case, it will make the new Cayenne – and the new Cayenne Coupe Turbo S E-hybrid – the most powerful SUVs in the VW Group, outgunning even the Lamborghini Urus.
Blume didn’t give any specifics about when the new range-topping Cayenne will actually arrive, but it seems likely a debut at Frankfurt in the autumn – or in New York or LA this year – is most likely.
