The new Nissan Juke-R NISMO to debut at Goodwood
The Nissan Juke-R NISMO is set to arrive at the Goodwood Festival of Speed later this month with extreme performance and an extreme price tag to match.
What started out as a bit of fun to see what mating a prosaic Nissan Juke and the mighty Nissan GT-R would yield, the resulting Nissan Juke-R turned in to a very limited production car costing over £400k.That was three years ago, and it looks like Nissan is about to trump its own completely barking Juke-R with a new Nissan Juke-R NISMO, which will roll out at the end of June in front of the appreciative crowd at the 2015 Goodwood Festival of Speed.
Beyond a four-line press release confirming the arrival of the Juke-R NISMO at Goodwood, Nissan aren’t divulging anything, except to say the new NISMO is the latest evolution of the world’s first supercar crossover and delivering a single teaser image of the new Juke-R NISMO to tease us.
What we can see is a Juke that looks even more aggressive than the R managed, with a very deep front bumper, scoops on the bonnet, gaping air intakes and extra width in the wings for big alloys.
As for what’s under the bonnet of the new Juke-R, we can but speculate.
Logically, as the original Juke-R took the heart of the GT-R as its powerplant, it’s not too much of a stretch to imagine Nissan has taken the GT-R’s latest 3.8 litre Turbo V6 with 592bhp and squeezed that in to the Juke.
If that’s the case, we could see the new Juke-R hitting 62mph in close to 3 seconds, challenging all but the world’s greatest supercars in a straight drag.
We’ll probably get more on the Juke-R NISMO before Goodwood, and we’ll be keeping a beady eye out for it blatting up the Goodwood hillclimb if Nissan has it ready enough to play, rather than just display.
