Tonight’s Top Gear -Series 16, episode 4 – sees the boys in cheap convertibles, the Zonda R, Simon Pegg, Nick Frost, Eddie Irvine – and maybe the McLaren MP4-12C
Doesn’t time fly when you’re having fun?
Here we are – not even at the middle of February – and we’re already more than halfway through this year’s first Top Gear Series. Yep, tonight sees episode 4 of Series 16 – just a couple more to go after tonight.
It doesn’t look like there’s an away game this week, instead the boys are at home playing silly buggers with cheap, second-hand convertibles.
According to Jeremy, that’s three versions of the same convertible. And Hammond’s means he ends up driving in a car full of sh*t and pubic hair. But Jeremy has been know to make the odd misleading statement.
As a farewell to the Pagani Zonda Jeremy does a very swift test of the track-only Pagani Zonda R. Is the Zonda R the last ever Zonda? No, not by a long way, and not as long as Horacio Pagani has bills to pay (and if you want an extra dose of Zonda R fun, take a look at our Zonda R Nurburgring video).
Tonight sees a trio of stars in to play in the reasonably priced car. Simon Pegg and Nick Frost are up in the C apostrophe D – but they do need to plug their new film, ‘Paul’. A film about an alien called Paul, but also a huge homage to every Sci-Fi scene and genre you can imagine.
We also get an extra SIARPC hit, although this one’s the Formula One version. Eddie Irvine gives up his sybaritic existence for a few hours and remembers he can drive. How well does he do? To be discovered. Oh, and there’s a bit about cars and avian superstition. No doubt Jeremy has bird flu.
We also think there’s a good chance Top Gear will have the new McLaren MP4-12C in the studio. We haven’t managed to get a confirmation, but it wouldn’t be a surprise. We’ve had all the specs and performance figures for the MP4-12C in, but embargoed until tomorrow.
A bit of a fawning by Messrs Clarkson, Hammond and May would set the McLaren up nicely for the performance details at midnight tonight. But it’s just a guess. And it’s all on at the usual time – 8pm BBC2.
Oh, and James is resurrected from the dead. It seems the Albanian Rozzers didn’t manage to finish him off after all.
