Volkswagen T-Roc R revealed in tease video
The Volkswagen T-Roc R – a performance take on VW’s T-Roc SUV – is confirmed for production in a new tease video from VW.
Volkswagen may be keeping the GTI badge for its Hot Hatches, but it seems happy to sprinkle the ‘R’ badge around a bit more liberally. So we’re getting a VW T-Roc R.Volkswagen is joining the ranks of mainstream car makers – like sister company SEAT with the Cupra Ateca -seeking out the potential market for a ‘Hot’ SUV, and the new T-Roc R looks to fit the bill, complete with power expected to come straight from the Golf R.
In the Golf R, the 2.0 litre turbo petrol kicks out over 300bhp and sends power to all four wheels, and there’s no reason to expect the T-Roc R to offer anything different. Which should make it a lively little SUV.
From what we can see in this tease video for the T-Roc R, it comes with some subtle ‘go-faster’ cosmetic tweaks including bigger bumpers, a set of alloys which look like they’ve come straight from the Golf R – and a set of tail pipes which look to be Golf R too – and a lower ride height.
It seems likely the reveal of the VW T-Roc R is imminent, with a public debut at the Geneva Motor Show next month.
