The Aston Martin 003 Project is a new Aston Martin Hybrid Hypercar, planned for 2021 and delivering a more road-focused car than the Valkyrie.
Aston Martin are busy little bunnies at the moment, what with the Valkyrie and Valkyrie AMR Pro, the James Bond DB5 Continuation, the DB4 GT Zagato and DBS Zagato combo and its DBS Superleggera, never mind the new Vantage and carrying on flogging enough DB11s to pay the bills. Oh, and there’s a Ferrari 488 rival on the horizon, the new DBX to get in to production and a range of Lagonda electric cars to create.
But it seems Aston are keen to get as much as they can out of the Red Bull tie-in, so we’re getting a new Aston Martin Hypercar – so far only dubbed Project 003 – to fill the gap left by cars like LaFerrari and the McLaren P1.
Aston Martin has revealed the first ‘look’ at the 003 with its announcement the project is real with a single sketch – which looks a bit like something done on the back of a fag packet – and some vague outline details.
The vague outlines sound familiar and unsurprising and include a carbon structure, a petrol electric hybrid powertrain, active aerodynamics and something around 1000bhp. The 003 will be a road car and built in limited numbers – just 500 coupes – in both RHD and LHD. Although the specific reference to ‘Coupes’ by AML leaves the door open for a further run of ‘Roadster’ models.
Aston Martin’s Andy Palmer said:
It was always the intention for the Aston Martin Valkyrie to be a once-in-a lifetime project, however, it was also vital to us that Valkyrie would create a legacy: a direct descendent that would also set new standards within its own area of the hypercar market, creating a bloodline of highly specialised, limited production machines that can exist in parallel with Aston Martin’s series production models.
I’m thrilled to announce that this car is the Project ‘003’, and our next step into a dynamic and exacting arena.
Expect three years of ‘Project 003’ teases, leaks and titbits.
