Lexus CT 200h: The CT 200h Kylie advert

Kylie has work for the Lexus shilling.

Kylie Minogue has to work for her lunch on the Kylie Lexus deal. Lexus release the first advert for the Lexus CT 200h featuring Ms Minogue.

Last month we reported that Lexus had splashed a chunk of Toyota’s rainy-day money on bagging Kylie Minogue to promote the Lexus CT 200h. Which seems like a very good idea.

For someone cute, bright and sexy, Kylie engenders remarkably little in the way of resentment – or even antipathy – from any demographic you can conjure up. An advertisers dream – a ‘Face’ to use that has almost no downside.

From Kylie’s perspective it’s hard to see how she can go wrong. Yes, she’ll get a touch of the ‘Celeb in a token Prius’ jibes from us and others, but a green-tinged Kylie will do her image no harm.

The Aussie songstress also gets Lexus to stump up a few bob to promote he latest tour – Aphrodite – Les Folies – and, as you would expect, a Lexus CT 200h gets sent her way.

But this deal isn’t entirely a one-way street; Kylie has to do a bit of work for the ‘Lexus Shilling’. Not a huge amount, mind you. Just a bit of a voiceover and a few ‘Driving’ shots of Ms Minogue in the CT 200h.
