The Tesla Model X – the SUV from Tesla based on the underpinnings of the soon to arrive Model S saloon – has been going to arrive – at least in concept form – for quite some time. But as we reported earlier this month, the Tesla Model X will be unveiled on 9th February at Tesla HQ.
With the reveal rapidly approaching, Tesla has started to send out invitations to the Tesla faithful, and the photo of the Model X above is taken from that invite.
The Model X photo shows little we couldn’t have guessed – it’s a high-riding SUV / SAV – but it does seem to show that the Model X looks likely to be a dead-ringer for a jacked-up Model S. The nose and roofline seem very similar, and we already know the powertrain of the Model X will be the same as the Model S.
That means the same electric powertrain and a gazillion laptop batteries powering the Tesla X, with the powertrain options revolving around how many batteries you want. It seems likely there will be a performance version withy the wick turned up – as there is on the Model S – and that the starting price, after a US taxpayer bribe, will probably come in a shade over $50k.
More on the Tesla Model X before the 9th February, we’re sure.
