The 2011 Saab 9-5 SportCombi
Saab will reveal the 9-5 Estate – the Saab 9-5 SportCombi – at the Geneva Motor Show in March. Due in showrooms Summer 2011.
All has been fairly quiet on the Saab front of late. Spyker are getting on doing what they’re doing to push production and sales in the right direction. There’s been some talk about a Baby Saab – the Saab 9-2 – which will use a BMW/MINI Chassis and we’ve heard a whisper or three about something ‘Sporty’ at the Geneva Motor Motor Show in March.
But it seems the ‘Sporty’ may have been a red herring as we’re hearing that the news for Saab at Geneva will be the Saab 9-5 SportCombi putting in an appearance before a launch later this year, which is a move in the right direction for the Swede. The 9-5 SportCombi is pitched as a premium estate with goodies such as a multi-fold floor, wet storage, power tailgate and under-floor storage.
We can expect similar engine options to those on the Saab 9-5 and four wheel drive – Saab’s XWD – as an option. We rather expect that the revisions to the Saab 9-5 suspension we reported recently will transfer to the estate.
Saab are staying tight-lipped on the 9-5 SportCombi and have issued no photos, but with Geneva only about six weeks away we should have more details soon.
