2012 Porsche Boxster - now in Porsche UK showrooms

The 2012 Porsche Boxster – and Boxster S – arrive in Porsche UK showrooms today priced from £37,589.

Porsche revealed the 2012 versions of the Boxster and Boxster S back in January looking, as you would expect from Porsche, much the same as the previous two generations of Boxster.

Despite a familiar look the 2012 Boxster gets a comprehensive makeover with a sharper look thanks to shorter overhangs, a longer wheelbase and a wider track. Porsche has also nudged the windscreen forward and the overall impression is of a Boxster that just looks more capable.

Under the skin the Boxster’s flat six falls in size to 2.7 litres yet still manages to deliver 10bhp more than the 2.9 litre it replaces. The Boxster S sticks with 3.4 litres but a tweak or three – and the weight loss of the new Boxster – conspire to make it a bit quicker – 0-62mph in 4.8 seconds with the PDK ‘box.

Standard kit in the regular Boxster includes a new Panamera inspired interior, Alcantara, 18″ alloys, stop-start, remote electric hood operation, audio CD with 7″ touchscreen and decent connectivity. Fork out for the Boxster S – and you should – and you get 19″ alloys, part leather, Bi-Xenons and, of course, a chunk more power.

The new Boxster costs £37,589, averages 36.7mpg and emits 180g/km. The new Boxster S costs £45,384, averages 35.3mpg and emits 188g/km. You also get to go and have a play at the Porsche Experience Centre at Silverstone.
