2012 Renault Megane - price & spec revealed
Renault may have slashed its UK offerings, but the perennial Megane soldiers on with a small tidy-up for 2012, new prices and new specifications, with details announced today.
The small tweaks across the Megane range are modest and include daytime running LED on the Dynamique and TomTom, tweaked bumpers and new alloys. Not enough to matter but just enough to make last year’s models seem old if you already own a Megane.
Under the bonnet there are changes too, with a trio of new engines with stop-start as standard: the 1.2 litre TCe petrol, the 1.5 litre dCi (which will also end up under the bonnet of the new Mercedes A Class) and the 1.6 litre dCi. Hitting the skip are the 1.4 TCE 130 and 2.0 litre TCe 180.
The new engines offer decent economy and emissions with the 1.2 TCe doing 53.3mpg and 119g/km, the 1.5 dCi 115 80.7mpg and 90g/km and the 1.6 dCi 140 70.6mpg and 104g/km.
Prices kick off at £16,275 on the hatch, £16,755 for the coupe and £17,075 for the Sport Tourer, with a new entry-level Expression+ trim. Top of the tree Megane is the GT-Line TomTom which gets most of Renault’s toys in the price with Hill Start, parking camera, parking sensors, posh sound and upgraded interiors.
The 2012 Renault Megane is on sale now with official launch on 1st April (which we hope for Renault’s sake doesn’t turn out to be a joke).
