2015 Audi R8 revealed – and it’s V10 only

The first official photos and details of the new Audi R8 are revealed ahead of its public debut next week in Geneva, with a complete overhaul and just a V10 engine option.
Under the skin, the new R8 gets a chassis shared with the Lamborghini Huracan – which is 40 per cent stiffer than before – and liberal use of aluminium and CFRP to cut weight, and carbon ceramic brakes (on the V10 Plus).
Power comes only from the V10 engine – no more V8, at least for now – with the standard R8 getting 553bhp and the V10 Plus model 602bhp. That means the standard R8 is good for a 0-62mph sprint in 3.5 seconds and the Plus in 3.2 seconds, with official economy at 23.9mpg and 22.7mpg respectively.

2015 Audi R8 interior
The interior of the new R8 takes cues from the ‘Virtual Cockpit’ of the new TT, with a 12.3″ TFT screen replacing the instruments, with a clean look with few buttons beyond those to access the HVAC and TFT screen.
Upholstery is either leather or Alcantara, there are smatterings of carbon fibre and newly developed bucket seats. It’s convincing, if not exactly Ferrari good.
The new Audi R8 will debut at Geneva next week and is expected to go on sale in Audi’s UK dealers in summer 2015.
No UK prices have been revealed yet, but we’ll update here as soon as we know.
