2015 Jaguar F-Type OFFICIAL: AWD, Manual Gearbox & R Roadster

The 2015 Jaguar F-Type has been revealed at the Los Angeles Auto Show with a four-wheel-drive option, manual gearbox and an F-Type R Roadster.

The Jaguar F-Type really hasn’t been with us very long, with the F-Type Roadster arriving in 2012 and the F-Type Coupe this time last year. But Jaguar has pushed the boat out to extend the F-Type range for 2015.

That means pushing the F-Type further in to Porsche 911 territory with the arrival of a 4WD option, a new manual gearbox option and the R Roadster with 542bhp.

As we revealed earlier this month, the F-Type is getting AWD to take on the 911 4S and 911 Turbo with a new 4WD system that uses torque on demand, with all the power sent to the back wheels in normal use and power diverted to the front wheels too if grip is lost at the back.

Visually, the AWD F-Type is distinguished by AWD badges, a deeper power bilge on the bonnet, new vents on the front wings and bespoke 19″ alloys (20″ on the V8 models).

Available on the 3.0 litre V6 Supercharged Coupe and Roadster and on the V8 Supercharged versions, with the old V8 Roadster being sacrificed for a new F-Type R Roadster with the 542bhp the R Coupe has, the F-Type R with AWD can now get to 60mph in just 3.9 seconds.

Other mechanical changes include a new six-speed manual gearbox – only available for RWD V6 F-Types – and a new electronic power steering system for sharper responses, with an option of torque vectoring across the range.

Interior tweaks include new dials and gauges, and the F-Type now comes with JLR’s new InControl Infotainment system, which will get the JustDrive updates revealed yesterday for full Smartphone integration and proper voice control.

The 2015 Jaguar F-Type range will now consist of 14 models, with the F-Type available as Coupe or Roadster in RWD with a manual or auto ‘box, the F-Type S as Coupe or Roadster with RWD manual or auto and 4WD auto and the F-Type R Coupe or Roadster with RWD or 4WD.

Prices start from £56,375 for the F-Type RWD manual rising to £97,135 for the F-Type R Roadster with AWD. The new F-Type goes on sale in Spring 2015.
