The Jaguar F-Type is getting a facelift and update for 2017, including cosmetic tweaks, LED headlights and an F-Type Sport 400.
It’s four years since the Jaguar F-Type first arrived as a convertible, since when it’s grown to include a coupe, an SVR and a four-wheel drive option. But now it’s time for a refresh. The usual cosmetic tweaks for a facelift are employed, with new, model specific, bumpers and full LED headlights giving the F-Type a fresh look, with the interior getting new sports seats, titivated finish options and the option of tan leather across the model range.
Also arriving across the F-Type range is Jaguar’s 8″ Touch Pro Infotainment and park assist, with a new ReRun App developed with GoPro offering real-time video with key performance data.
Despite this being a facelift rather than a new F-TYpe, Jaguar has decided they will deliver a launch edition – the F-Type 400 SPORT.
The Jaguar F-Type 400 SPORT will only be available for 2017 and comes with an uprated version of the 3.0 litre supercharged V6, and gets 395bhp (400 metric horses) and the option of rear-wheel drive or four-wheel drive.
Not only does the 400 SPORT get more power, it also comes with an uprated chassis with Super Performance braking system, Configurable Dynamics and 20″ alloys.
Other changes include the F-Type R-Dynamic replacing the F-Type S, with the same 345bhp and 375bhp engine options, which means the F-Type range now consists of the entry-level F-Type Coupe and Convertible, the F-Type R-Dynamic Coupe and Convertible, the F-Type 400 SPORT Coupe and Convertible and the F-Type SVR Coupe and Convertible.
Ian Callum, Jaguar’s Design Director, said:
Great sports car design is about proportion and purity. The most challenging element of the process for designers is to focus on and maintain an exciting silhouette that promises performance.
For the 2018 model year F-TYPE, we looked at how we could fine-tune key details to deliver even more clarity of purpose in the overall design – for the driver, the passenger and onlookers.
The 2017 Jaguar F-Type goes on sale Q1, with prices from £51,450 for the F-Type Coupe 340PS RWD to £110,000 for the F-Type SVR.
