The Kia Soul and the Kia Carens, Kia’s family moving transport, both got a bit of a makeover for 2017, which was revealed at the Paris Motor Show. And now both are on sale in the UK.
The new Kia Soul gets new trim grades – imaginatively named 1, 2, 3 and Sport – with trim level 1 getting Air Con, 16″ wheels, electric mirrors, Keyless and tyre pressure monitoring and with prices from £13,995.
A move up to the Kia Soul 2 (from £16,750) yields 17″ alloys, auto lights, Cruise, rear view camera, parking sensors and climate, and the Soul 3 (from £20,750) throws in 18″ alloys, chrome, parking sensors all round, push button start, 8″ touchscreen and auto wipers.
Top of the Soul tree is the Soul Sport (from 23,250), complete with the 201bhp 1.6 litre T-GDI engine already found in the cee’d GT, sporty 18″ alloys, bigger brakes, twin exhaust, panoramic roof, electric seats, auto high beam, Cross Traffic Alert and Blind Spot monitoring.
The new Carens MPV comes with a similar model lineup – 1, 2, 3 and 4 – with the entry-level Carens 1 (from £18,995) getting LED running lights, cornering headlights, Air Con, Cruise, Bluetooth and central locking.
Move up to the Carens 2 (from £20,395) and you’ll get folding mirrors, climate, 7″ touchscreen, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, DAB and rear view camera, with the Carens 3 |(from £24,300) getting 17″ alloys, heated seats, electric driver’s seat and leather.
Go a bit daft and fork out £26,290 for the Carens 4 and you can add in to the mix 8″ touchscreen, panoramic roof, premium vision instruments, JBL Sound, Parallel Park Assist and parking sensors.
Now on sale at Kia’s UK dealers, the Kia Soul gets a choice of 1.6 GDi, 1.6 CRDi – with manual and auto options – as well as the aforementioned Soul Sport T-GDI, with the Carens available with the 1.6 GDi and two power outputs from the 1.7 CRDi.
