2018 Porsche 911 GT2 RS revealed
The new Porsche 911 GT2 RS – Porsche’s most hardcore road-going 911 – has been revealed at the launch of Forza Motorsport 7, ahead of a public debut.
As the world changes and digital and real world collide more and more, car makers are starting to reveal cars in different ways. Just as Porsche has done with this, the 2018 Porsche 911 GT2 RS.At the launch event for Forza Motorsport 7, the new GT2 RS has been revealed ahead of what, most likely, will be a public debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September.
Porsche hasn’t officially released any specs for the latest GT2 RS, although you will be able to ‘drive’ it virtually from 3 October when Forza 7 arrives, but that doesn’t mean we don’t have a pretty good idea what will be on offer.
Looking very ‘Motorsport’, the GT2 RS gets big bonnet vents, enormous rear wing, splitter, wheel arch vents, rear wheel drive, torque vectoring and a variable locking diff.
We don’t know exactly how much power the 911 GT2 RS will get, but it seems likely it will be somewhere between 640php and 700bhp, enough to get to 62mph in not much more than 2.5 seconds and on to 200mph plus.
It’s seven years since the last 997-based GT2 RS, and you can bank on this one eclipsing what that car offered, and with a price to match. A price, incidentally, which is likely to be more than retained, with the last GT2 RS now selling for more than twice what each of the 500 unit run cost new.
