2019 Range Rover Evoque shows its ‘Velar’ face in spy video
The 2019 Range Rover Evoque has been spied on video testing as Land Rover works to deliver a new Evoque. Expected to debut at the 2018 Paris Motor Show.
Whatever you think about the Range Rover Evoque perhaps being less of a Range Rover than the rest of the offerings from Land Rover, it has been an enormous success.Arriving almost eight years ago, and staying very faithful to its almost comically concept proportions, the Evoque revived the Range Rover brand by offering a car aimed primarily at buyers wanting the premium badge at a more affordable price, rather than any real ability. Blimey, it even brought a FWD version with it.
But the Evoque needs to be brought up to date, and Land Rover are planning to launch a new Evoque at the Paris Motor Show in October, although it won’t be as ‘new’ as you might hope.
As you can see in the spy video of the new Evoque (below), the Evoque’s falling roof and rising beltline stay intact, there’s something of a Velar smoothing detail makeover going on, but it’s still very much Evoque. Inside will take its inspiration from the Velar too, complete with its dual touchscreens.
Under the skin won’t change a huge amount either, with the existing D8 Platform continuing but with tweaks, including a bit of a stretch to make the back seats of the Evoque more suitable for actual grown-ups, and looks set to be offered only in five-door guise rather than the ‘pure’ three-door.
Under the bonnet expect the arrival of Land Rover’s 1.5 litre Ingenium engine complete with 48v electrics to offer the mildest kind of hybrid, but don’t expect too much in the way of electrification, and certainly not a BEV Evoque.
The new Range Rover Evoque is expected to debut at the 2018 Paris Motor Show and be on sale in early 2019.
