McLaren is celebrating 20 years since the McLaren F1 team first started work on the McLaren F1 road car with a detailed press releases and photos.

Well, not quite 20 years ago today that Ron Dennis got his band to play, but it is 20 years this year since McLaren first brought together the team that was to create the mighty McLaren F1, which is cause for celebration.

To mark the occasion McLaren has issued a McLaren F1 20th Anniversary Press Release reprising the chronology of the F1 and lots of interesting stats. Take a look – it’s well worth the read. And they’ve also released a set of photos of Mclaren F1s as well. The only trouble is – for Cars UK readers at least – you’ve seen these exclusive McLaren F1 photos – or ones very similar – a few weeks ago.

We had no idea McLaren were going to issue these photos when we published the ones we’d been sent by a McLaren F1 owner. If we had know would we still have published them? Don’t be silly – of course we would! A good picture – and story – is not to be sniffed at.

The press release probably doesn’t tell you anything new, and you can dig round Cars UK and get much the same information – and more. But it’s good to have it in one place and good to have the chance to publish the 21 McLaren F1s in one place picture in a higher resolution than we managed a few weeks ago.
