The Bugatti 16C Galibier - production will start in 2012

The four door, four seater 800bhp Bugatti Galibier is signed off for production in 2012.

The headline – Bugatti Galibier: Game on – is almost the same as one we wrote almost exactly a year ago – Bugatti Galibier Green Light – but we thought, as the ‘Bugatti Galibier signed off for production’ story seems about to circulate, we’d re-do the story.

The Galibier was always going to be made; it was never really a concept in the real sense. Yes, if the world had come out and thrown the arms up in horror – as for example they did with Lagonda’s awful SUV concept – Bugatti may have had a re-think. But they didn’t.

And the Galibier is a part of the master plan at Bugatti. Galibier production will start in 2012 when Veyron production ends. It will be a cheaper car than the Veyron – although not by much – and will be tuned to deliver around 800bhp by using a pair of superchargers instead of four turbos.

But the Galibier won’t be the only Bugatti product. We expect to see not only a Super-Veyron replacement but also a super-saloon. Yes, the Galibier could be considered a super-saloon, but not in the ‘Grand’ sense. We expect to see a modern interpretation of the Bugatti Royale to arrive by 2015, produced in much smaller numbers than the Galibier and Super-Veyron.

And much more expensive.
