We’re not entirely sure how the Nissan Juke-R – the love child of a Juke and a GT-R – ended up in Dubai pitted in a race against a selection of the world’s best supercars – but it did. Let’s call it serendipity. Others might call it a PR stunt. It doesn’t really matter.
But however the Juke-R ended up racing a Lamborghini Gallardo, Ferrari 458 Italia and Mercedes SLS AMG round a street track in Dubai matters little. What matters is how well the Juke-R acquitted itself – and it did so very well.
That said, it’s probably fair to say – certainly on the evidence the video provides – that the driver of the Juke-R was quite competent, whilst the drivers of the trio of supercars were…enthusiastic. In fact, it would appear the driver of the Juke-R was Lucas Ordonez – GT Academy Graduate, no less – but we don’t know who the rest were.
Still, the calibre of the driving competition may be an unknown factor, the street track at the Dubai International Marina may be less than ideal, and the video may not be the best quality. But one thing is for sure. The Nissan Juke-R is a bit more than nippy.
Update: Maybe the competition wasn’t so shoddy after all. It looks like Christian Vann – a Kiwi pro driver – was behind the wheel of the Gallardo, and fellow pro driver Micahael Mallock – a Brit – was driving the SLS AMG.
