The new BMW 1 Series has grown up – and grown in size – and now offers a BMW that is much more in tune with the rest of the BMW range.
The 116i Sport we reviewed is the least powerful petrol-engined 1 Series in the range, but it offers good economy, more room, a better ride, decent handling and performance that is better than adequate.
At £21k the 116i Sport isn’t cheap, but it does now offer a competent entry-point in to BMW ownership, even if many still find the looks off-putting.
