Lamborghini boss Stephan Winkelmann has confirmed a new Lamborghini to celebrate Lamborghini’s 50th anniversary in 2013. A Lamborghini Hypercar?
It’s fifty years since Lamborghini first started to build cars, and 2013 sees the Lamborghini 50th Anniversary Grand Tour when Lamborghinis from around the world will congregate in Sant’Agata to drive 1200km of Italy’s roads in what is expected to be the biggest gathering of Lamborghinis ever (as long as enough owners are prepared to part with €5500 to take part).But a Grand Tour round Italy isn’t all Lamborghini has planned for 2013 – there’s a new Lamborghini too.
Stephan Winkelmann has confirmed to Automotive News that Lamborghini will be building a new car to celebrate their 50th Anniversary, but what we don’t know is whether it will be a one-off – like the Aventador J – a badged version of a current car – like the Countach 25th Edition – or an all new car. We’re hoping for the latter.
The latter could be the long-rumoured Lamborghini designed to take aim at the new Ferrari F70 (the new Enzo) and the McLaren P1.
We’ve believed for a long time that Lamborghini intends building an extreme version of the Aventador to take on the Ferrari F70 (which we thought might be the Urus, until that got attached to the Lamborghini SUV) and nothing has changed our minds.
That would mean an extreme carbon fibre body and chassis and a V12 with something in excess of 800bhp, potentially enough to threaten the offerings from Ferrari and McLaren. We had a hint of a hyper-Aventador last year with a snatched photo of an Aventador wearing Veyron wheels and tyres, but nothing since.
Wishful thinking that the Aventador Hypercar is still on? Or the perfect car to celebrate Lamborghini’s 50th Anniversary?

Igor Tot says
I would love it if they make a 25 year tradition.
Countach = 25th anniversary
Diablo = 50th anniversary
Murcielago = 75th etc
I would love to see an all new Diablo brought from the past and inspired by the past. AS I recall Diablo was once the fastest car on earth. As short lived as this record was, it existed. It would be amazing to take that and stuff it into a new Diablo and have it take on P1 and F70.
