Nissan Pixo TEASED as Nissan’s take on the Renault Twingo and new Dacia Spring

Nissan tease their new electric City Car as the Nissan Pixo, the Nissan take on the Renault Twingo and debuting on 23 September.

Yesterday saw the arrival of the new Dacia Spring as Renault’s budget brand revealed their take on the new Renault Twingo, and now we get news of another Twingo spin-off with a tease for a new Nissan City Car to be called the Nissan Pixo.

The Pixo will be the second new EV from Nissan sharing Renault underpinnings, after the arrival of the new Nissan Micra EV using the Renault 5 E-Tech as its basis, and will debut on 23 September and go on sale in the New Year.

Beyond revealing the Pixo name – used for a short while before in the UK by Nissan for a rebadged Suzuki in 2009 – Nissan doesn’t have much to say beyond:

Small in size yet big in personality, PIXO is the newest addition to Nissan’s growing electric vehicle line-up. Created for modern urban life, it combines compact dimensions with intuitive technology and distinctive Nissan design, making everyday city driving easy and enjoyable.

What is reasonable to summise, as the Pixo uses the same underpinnings as the Twingo, is the same powertrain setup, meaning a 27.5kWh battery powering a single electric motor good for 80bhp, range of a bit over 160 miles, 50kWh charging and 0-62mph in around 12 seconds.

All will be revealed when the Nissan Pixo debuts on 23 September. Expect a sub-£20k starting price.
