New Dacia Spring EV is an £18k Renault Twingo sibling

The new Dacia Spring arrives as a sibling to the Renault Twingo, a more grown-up EV with prices starting at under £18k.

The Dacia Spring went on sale in the UK back in 2024 as a no-nonsense budget urban EV, an ideal second car for congested city roads, with prices from £14,995, among the cheapest cars in the UK. It’s sold well, with over 200k finding homes across the UK and Europe.

But now there’s a new Dacia Spring, and it’s a lot more grown-up than the current Dacia, bigger in size (with underpinnings from the Renault Twingo), but likely to cost from around £18k, some £6k more than the  Spring’s current entry price. Although it could well be eligible for the full ECG, which would cut the entry price to a bit over £14k.

The new Spring comes with a single powertrain option with a 27.5kWh battery powering a 79bhp motor at the front, good for 0-62mph in 12.1 seconds – so more than enough to keep up with traffic out of town – and a range of 155 miles and maximum DC charging of 50kW.

The Spring comes in two trim levels – Expression and Journey – with Expression models coming with 15″ steel wheels, remote locking, electric front windows and door mirrors, Air Con, auto lights, rear parking sensors, Media Control System, 7″ driver display and split rear bench seat. The Spring Journey adds 16″ steel wheels, a reversing camera, and 10.1″ infotainment.

The new Dacia Spring is expected to go on sale in the UK in H1 2027.
