MG3 UK details & photos revealed

MG has released details and photos of the 2014 MG3 for the UK, which gets a lot of customisation options and a 1.5 litre petrol engine. Arrives September 2013.

MG has revealed the MG3 for the UK market at their European Design Centre in Birmingham, ahead of a debut in the UK market in the Autumn.

MG are calling the MG3 a “distinctive statement of modern British style” and are aiming it at a youthful demographic looking for ‘something different’. Is the MG3 something different? Not really.

From the outside, the MG3 looks a pretty decent, if generic, small city car with a decent amount of aggression, a set of LED running lights in the bumper which MG say are ‘Hockey Stick Shaped’, a wide mesh grill and a wraparound windscreen.

There will be plenty of options to customise the MG3 with three trim levels, 10 colour choices and 10 graphic packs with more expensive versions getting stuff like 16″ diamond-cut alloys, side sill extensions, sports valance at the back, chrome tail pipes and sports bumpers.

Equipment includes – depending on the model you choose – Ait Con, Bluetooth, DAB, auto lights and wipers, rear parking sensors and part leather trim.

Inside, MG say the MG3 will take four six-footers and the rolled and raised dashboard gives an airy feel to the cabin and the sculptured front seats offer more room for rear passengers too. But the interior photos of the MG3 do make it look a bit low rent.

Power will come from a 104bhp 1.5 litre petrol engine at launch (although there should be more engine options to follow) and the MG3 will arrive in MG’s UK showrooms in the Autumn at prices we expect to start at under £10k.
