The Aston Martin Valhalla Spider arrives as a convertible version of the Valhalla Coupe with the same 1,064 bhp powertrain.
It still seems odd that Aston Martin makes a mid-engined Hypercar, when all logic tells you the offering should be cars like the DB12, the latest of a long line of ‘DB’ GTs, or its little sibliong the Vantage. But this is 2026, and Aston Martin doesn’t just have GT cars but an SUV too – the DBX – and the Aston Martin Valhall Hybrid Hypercar, a limited run of 999 cars costing in the region of £1 million each and finally revealed in production-ready guise at the end of 2024.
The powertrain for the Valhalla uses an ‘Aston-ified’ version of the ubiquitous Mercedes-AMG 4.0-litre V8 good for 817bhp and a trio of electric motors – two at the front and one in the ‘box for a total of 1064bhp and 811lb/ft of torque, enough for 0-62mph in 2.5 seconds and EV running from the 6kWh battery for a whole 9 miles.
Now, Aston has revealed a convertible version of the Valhalla with the arrival of the Valhalla Spider, which comes with the same powertrain as its coupe sibling and the same impressive performance of 0-62mph in 2.5 seconds and a top speed of 217mph, even with the roof off in the Spider.
To be accurate, the top speed in the Spider with the standard fabric roof is 124mph, although you can buy a carbon fibre roof panel to allow 217mph, or just leave the roof open.
With the roof open, there’s a removable wind deflector which can be folded and stowed when not needed, and Aston has tweaked the ESP and active aero to know when the roof’s open or closed.
Aston Martin CEO, Adrian Hallmark, said of the Valhalla Spider:
Valhalla Coupe broke so much new ground. Our first production mid-engined supercar. Our first plug-in hybrid. The first to feature our bespoke flat-plane crank V8 engine, and the first to use our all-new 8-speed Dual Clutch Transmission (DCT). It also pioneered a fresh design language and achieved a unique blend of exemplary on-road feel and engagement matched by extraordinary on-track capability.
Valhalla Spider builds on those impressive ‘firsts’, preserving the aesthetic beauty and dynamic bandwidth of Valhalla Coupe while introducing the expanded opportunities for enjoyment and engagement that can only be found in an open-cockpit supercar. High speed or low speed. Rain or shine. Roof on or roof off. Road or track. Valhalla Spider ticks every box.
The Valhalla Spider will see first customer deliveries in Q3 2027, and they will be part of the total run of 999 cars.
