SEAT Leon Cupra 280 Ultimate Sub 8 Performance Pack adds £4,200 to the price of the £27,210 Cupra 280

An Ultimate Sub 8 Performance Pack for the Seat Leon Cupra 280 has been announced. For £4,200 you get a Cupra 280 just like the one that set the Nurburgring record.

The SEAT Leon Cupra 280 is already probably the pick of the hot hatches, but if you want to turn you Cupra 280 in to the best it can be – and have a car that’s specced like the Leon Cupra that took the Nurburgring Hot Hatch lap record – then you’re going to want the new Ultimate Sub 8 Performance Pack.

SEAT say that a LEON SC Cupra fitted with the Ultimate Sub 8 Performance Pack (the sub 8 is a reference to the sub 8 minute Nurburgring lap) is a proper track day car but one which is still very usable on-road, with home comforts like back seats and DAB, although SEAT has dumped the Climate, reduced the speaker count, dropped the centre console and rear air vents and removed the storage boxes under the front seats – all in the name of saving a bit of weight.

Performance parts include four-pot Brembo pistons for the 370mm brakes, body coloured side skirts, multi-spoke alloys in black or orange and a set of Michelin Sport Cup 2 tyres (although they’ll cost you an extra £460). You can have either a six-speed manual or DSG gearbox, but there are no options.

The regular SEAT Leon Cupra 280 costs £27,210 with a manual ‘box, so adding the Ultimate Performance pack will take that to £31,410 (and £31,870 if you want the Michelin semi-slicks). But as SEAT point out, that’s almost £7k less than a Mégane Renaultsport 275 Trophy-R with Performance Brake Pack.
