Audi e-tron Quattro Electric Concept revealed

The Audi e-tron Quattro Concept has been revealed as a challenger to Tesla with 496bhp from its three electric motors, and a range of 300 miles.
Sporting a look that could signal Audi’s design future for alternatively-fuelled cars, the e-tron quattro showcases all Audi’s EV and aerodynamic toys in a package that looks more production ready than pure concept.
Providing the 496bhp in the e-tron quattro is a trio of electric motors, one at the front to drive the front wheels and two at the back for the rear wheels, with a total of 429bhp on tap all the time but a boost to 496bhp when required. There’s also a fulsome 590lb/ft of torque on offer.
Power for the electric motors comes from a 95kWg lithium ion, liquid-cooled battery mounted under the floor capable of giving a range of up to 311 miles and a range of up to 249 miles from a ‘supercharger’ charge of just 30 minutes.
Battery life is enhanced with a big array of solar cells on the roof which, say Audi, could give you an extra range of more than 600 miles a year in Europe. Whereabouts in Europe we’re not sure, but it’s less than two miles a day.
Underpinning the e-quattro concept is a take on the MLB Platform which has been tweaked to take the electric motors and batteries, with five-link suspension, air springs, adaptive damping, self-levelling, four-wheel-steering and a set of 22″ alloys.
Audi enhances range with a active aerodynamics including elements that provide additional cooling at the front when needed, extending side sills to optimise air flow over the rear end, and active spoiler at the back and an extending diffuser.
The interior of the e-tron looks very similar to the Audi Prologue, with individual seating for four.
