New Toyota C-HR Concept previews production Nissan Juke rival: Frankfurt 2015

Toyota has unveiled a new take on the C-HR Concept at the Frankfurt Motor Show previewing a production version for 2016 to take on the Nissan Juke.

We’ve seen a Toyota C-HR Concept before, but Toyota has surprised the Frankfurt Motor Show with a new C-HR Concept, this one said to closely resemble a production model – which will debut at the Geneva Motor Show in the spring of 2016 – and looks set to take on the Nissan Juke as a funky urban crossover / SUV.

Toyota President Akio Toyoda has promised to build cars that are not just better, but more fun too, and the C-HR is really unlike anything else Toyota currently makes, with styling that will challenge the ‘ugly but appealing’ Juke, with lots of angular, almost jarring lines with a pronounced coupe profile and an aggressive stance. Toyota call it Diamond-Shaped Architecture

The C-HR is built on Toyota’s new Gloabal Architecture Platform (TNGA), which means increased body rigidity, better collision performance, a lower centre of gravity and better dynamics.

Toyota are being a bit coy about what powers the C-HR, but they do say it’s a new, more compact full hybrid powertrain with lighter components and better battery, motor and engine performance than ever before.

The production version of the Toyota C-HR will debut at the 2016 Geneva Motor Show and go on sale shortly after.
