Range Rover Evoque Convertible does Off-Road
With the Range Rover Evoque Convertible about to launch, Land Rover has released video of the convertible Evoque showing its off-road ability in testing.
Last week we had a sneak peek at the new Range Rover Evoque Convertible as a set of wireframe models plonked around London as Land Rover gears up for the Evoque Convertible’s launch. Now we get the proof that, even if it is a lifestyle statement car, the Evoque Convertible can do off-road like a Range Rover should.Land Rover are calling the Evoque Convertible the “world’s first luxury compact SUV”, and the video they’ve released (below) shows it completing its final phase of testing at Land Rover’s Eastnor Castle Estate to prove it’s been subject to the same sort of off-road testing as the more practical Land Rovers.
Mike Cross, Land Rover’s Chief Engineer. said:
Land Rover prides itself on being a class leader when it comes to all-terrain capability and the Evoque Convertible is no different. Thanks to a combination of innovative engineering and the application of advanced technologies, Evoque Convertible will deliver a dynamic and assured SUV experience that has been tested around the world. We call it ‘The Convertible for all Seasons’.
Although the Evoque Convertible is even less likely to go off-road than most Range Rovers – its will be almost exclusively a yummy-mummy posing car for lunch, school runs and trips to Waitrose – it’s still vital, if Land Rover are to maintain their USP, that it can do the rufty-tufty stuff too.
Just don’t forget that with the roof down the Evoque Convertible will get covered in mud outside and inside.
