The Range Rover Evoque Convertible – the open-top Evoque – will debut in November 2015, ahead of which Land Rover is teasing with wireframe models in London.
It’s six years since the Range Rover Evoque first broke cover as the Range Rover LRX – and five years since it turned in to the Evoque – and yet, despite the threat of more variants, all we’ve actually had is the Evoque Convertible Concept in 2012, a car that certainly polarised opinion.Despite doubts about whether Land Rover would create a production version of the Evoque Convertible, Land Rover eventually did confirm a production Evoque Convertible was happening and, whether you like it or not, the time is nigh for the soft-top evoque to launch.
The launch of the Evoque Convertible is happening next month (November 2015), so Land Rover has decided to tease its arrival by creating a collection of full-size Evoque convertible wireframe sculptures, dot them at iconic locations around London – like Knightsbridge, Mayfair and outside Harrods on Brompton Road – and take a set of photos.
Made of aluminium and created by Land Rover, the sculptures are said to accurately outline the shape of the upcoming Evoque Convertible, and even get 3D wheels and seats.
Gerry McGovern, Land Rover Design boss, said:
The Range Rover Evoque Convertible is perfectly suited to the urban surroundings of a city like London and it’s the perfect place to showcase the world’s first luxury compact SUV convertible. The locations chosen reflect the refined and luxurious lifestyle of an Evoque Convertible customer – two attributes this vehicle delivers in abundance.
You’ll be able to find out for yourself ig the Range Rover Evoque Convertible passes the ‘Taste Test’ next month.
