The new Smart Fortwo Cabrio – revealed at this year’s Frankfurt Motor Show, is now on sale in the UK from £13,265. Full UK price and specifications.
The new Cabrio gets a stiffer body than before, an electrically operated roof that fold in just 12 seconds – at any speed – with a black roof as standard but the choice of a red roof instead if you prefer (and if you’re willing to pay an extra £115.00).
Two engine options are on offer, with a choice of the 70bhp 1.0 litre or the 0.9 litre turbo with 89bhp and the twinamic six-speed auto (you can have a five-speed manual, but won’t be able to order that until spring 2016), with official economy at 65.7mpg for the 1.2 litre and 67.3mpg for the turbo.
Smart ForTwo Cabrio Models
The model choices for the new Cabrio are the same as in the tin-top ForTwo – passion, prime and proxy.
The Passion model (from £13,210) comes with 15″ black alloys, Climate, Bluetooth and a an orange and black or grey and black interior, with the Prime (from £13,905) adding better alloys, black leather with grey stitching, heated seats and extra instrument pods.
The sporty Proxy Cabrio (from £13,905) comes with 16″ alloys, a blue and white Artico and cloth interior, Sports Package, lowered suspension, sports pedals and chrome tail pipes.
If you’re happy to spend even more on your new ForTwo Cabrio, Mercedes are offering Premium and Premium Plus packages, with the Premium (£795) adding rear parking sensors (not that you need them in a Smart, especially with the roof down), Smart Media with Sat Nav and the Comfort Package.
The Premium Plus Package (£1,295) can be added just to the Prime and Proxy models and adds ambient lighting, welcome home function, LED headlamps, running lights and tail lights, auto lights and wipers and a rear view camera.
The Smart ForTwo Cabrio is now on sale at Smart’s UK dealers, with first cars due to arrive in customers hands before spring 2016.
