The Koenigsegg Agera RS – Koenigsegg’s successor to the Agera R and S – has sold out, with all 25 cars finding a home in just 10 months.
It’s only 10 months since the Koenigsegg Agera RS was revealed at the 2015 Geneva Motor Show, but despite a price tag that makes cars like the McLaren P1 and Ferrari LaFerrari look like budget cars, Koenigsegg has managed to sell all 25 cars they plan to produce.True, Koenigsegg had orders for 10 RS from hardcore, and deep-pocketed, Koenigsegg fans before the RS was even revealed, but to take another 15 orders – with real cash deposits – in just 10 months at this rarefied level is testament to the appeal of Koenigsegg.
In fact, despite taking orders for the RS from the UK, the US, Canada, Japan, Taiwan, Singapore, Malaysia, Saudi Arabia, Qatar and the UAE, Koenigsegg say they’ve had to turn away orders from buyers in other countries as the last RS has been snapped up.
Christian von Koenigsegg said:
I am extremely proud of the Agera RS program. The RS is a classic Koenigsegg, with all the core values and features that the Koenigsegg brand stands for. The performance, road feel and responsiveness are truly amazing and the level of technical sophistication is second to none. It is a true ‘pinnacle’ project that has been wholly embraced by our customers and friends.
Despite the huge price tag, a hypercar with 1160hp, stunning build quality and even everyday usability is clearly a temptation too great for well-heeled petrolheads to resist.
Koenigsegg plan to build the remaining Agera RS models during the course of 2016, with the last customer car delivered in 2017.
