The Renault Clio RS gets a similar facelift to the regular Clio, with updates inside and out as well as a new Clio Trophy model with additional power.
It’s just a few weeks since Renault revealed a facelift for the Clio, and now its sporty sibling – the Renault Clio Renaultsport – comes in for a similar makeover for 2017.The facelift bits include a titivated grille, lights and bumpers and new fog lights which create a chequered pattern.
Buyers can choose from two power outputs – 200PS or 220PS in the Trophy version – both mated to a six-speed EDC dual-clutch automatic gearbox complete with flappy paddles.
Not only does the Clio R S offer two power outputs, there’s also the option of three different chassis, with the Sport Chassis getting 17″ or 18″ wheels and ideal for everyday use, the Cup Chassis getting 18″ wheels and a better blend if you do some track stuff, and the Trophy chassis, also on 18″ wheels and with lowered suspension aimed at the enthusiast.
The 200PS engine is available with Sport and Cup chassis, and the 220PS for the Trophy which is, say Renault, good for 0-62mph in 6.6 seconds.
Standard equipment includes Launch Control, the R.S. Drive System (Normal, Sport and Race), R.S. Monitor and hydraulic compression bump stops, with an Akrapovic exhaust inspired by the Clio RS 16 Concept an option.
The Renault Clio R.S. will go on sale in the UK in October, at the same time as the rest of the refreshed Clio range.
