A facelift for the Renault Clio has been revealed – although not on sale until October – with cosmetic tweaks and spec changes.
Renault are getting a bit ahead of themselves with the reveal of a facelift for the Renault Clio, as you can’t actually go and order it until October. Which should ensure sales of Renault’s current Clio will either be nil or hugely discounted for the next four months. If you do decide to wait for the Clio’s facelift to grab the French equivalent of the Ford Fiesta, you will be getting a stylish and appealing City car, although not because the facelift for the Clio is extensive, but because the Clio is stylish and appealing already.
In fact, the facelift is so small it’s hard to see what’s changed, but there are new LED headlights, the grille has been tweaked to make it look more like Renault’s latest offerings and the back bumper is a bit different.
Inside, all that seems to have changed is some better quality materials, although there are now three infotainment systems fitted depending on model – Media Nav Evolution, R-Link Evolution and R&GO.
Other technology additions include parking sensors, reversing camera and self parking (all depending on model), and there’s a new 108bhp 1.5 litre diesel option as well as a manual gearbox for the TCe 120 petrol.
A facelift and extra toys will probably mean a price hike when the new Clio goes on sale in October, but so far Renault hasn’t decided by how much.
