Aston Martin DB11 will be PERSONALLY inspected by Aston boss Andy Palmer

Aston Martin boss Andy Palmer has declared he will personally inspect every one of the first 1,000 DB11s before they leave the factory.

It replaces the DB9, a gorgeous looking car but one which was plagued by problems when it first launched (which probably took most of its life to overcome), and Aston Martin look to be working hard to make sure the DB11 is as it should be from the very beginning.

But we didn’t expect the desire to deliver a properly sorted DB11 would mean Aston’s new boss, Andy Palmer, actually getting his hands dirty, but that’s exactly what’s happening, with Palmer announcing on Twitter he will be personally inspecting every one of the first 1,000 DB11s to come off the line.

To Palmer’s credit, its seems his inspection will be more than a quick nod at each car as it’s finished, but a full, 60 minute inspection.

Starting in October as the DB11 starts to roll out at Gaydon, Palmer will start inspecting at 6pm, and with production expected to run at 12 cars a day he won’t finish inspecting until 6am the following day, and that’s going to go on until almost Christmas.

It’s a noble gesture, and a sign of faith in his product, but is having the CEO inspecting cars for 12 hours a day for three months really sensible? Surely his time is better spent elsewhere?
