Alfa Romeo MiTo gets a Giulia facelift – on sale UK from £12,960

The Alfa Romeo MiTo is getting a bit of a facelift with tweaks to make it look more like the Giulia, new trim and tweaked engines. Costs from £12,960.

The Alfa Romeo MiTo has been around since 2008, and it’s two years since Sergio Marchionne said the MiTo would be left behind as Alfa focused on RWD cars and left the compact car market to Fiat.

But those plans are not exactly hitting their mark, so we’re getting a facelift for the now eight-year old MiTo to freshen it up and give it some of the looks of the new Giulia.

The usual lights and bumpers facelift applies to the MiTo, with a sports grille, darkened lights and new alloys, as well as a new paint option – Alfa White.

Inside there’s new upholstery for the seats, Uconnect Live, new finishes and a MiTo badge using the same font as the new Giulia badge.

Trim levels get a tweak, with the entry-level Mito called MiTo (that must have taken months of committees to decide on), the MiTo Super and the MiTo Speciale, with the MiTo Veloce at the top of the range.

Specs are decent, with the MiTo getting 16″ alloys, satin chrome exterior detailing, Air Con, 5″ Uconnect with Bluetooth and DAB and a rear spoiler.

Moving up the MiTo range adds more and more toys, with the range-topping Veloce (costing from £20500) getting 18″ alloys, Alfa Active Suspension, Brembo Brakes, touchscreen UIconnect with Sat Nav and twin chrome exhausts.

Engine availability depends on model and includes a 77bhp 1.4 litre petrol, 104bhp 875cc TwinAir, 94bhp 1.3 JTDM-2 and the 168bhp 1.4 MultiAir.

The new Alfa Romeo MiTo is now on sale at Alfa’s UK dealers, with the MiTo costing from £12,960.
