The Audi Q8 SUV Concept is teased for a debut at the Detroit Motor Show, previewing a range-topping Audi Coupe SUV sitting above the Q7.
No one would ever have believed when BMW rolled out the X6 that it would spawn a rash of coupe SUVs of all shapes and sizes. But it has, and a new Audi Q8 SUV is on the way to join the throng.Teased ahead of a debut at next month’s Detroit Motor Show, the big Coupe SUV Q8 is a titivated and tarted Audi Q7 with a massive coupe body and powerplants which look set to include electrification.
That electrification could see a fully blown EV using the powerplant heading for the all-electric Q6, but is also certain to be offered as a plug-in hybrid as well as with Audi’s usual diesel and petrol options for the Q7.
Not expected to turn in to a full production model for another couple of years, expect the Q8 to get a full suite of autonomous functionality as well as a 48V electrical system, switch-free interior and just four seats.
And in case you think that dramatic front end on the sketch of the Q8 (above) is just artistic licence – it’s not. We’ve seen a photo of the Q8 and it’s really quite accurate.
