The new Peugeot 3008 SUV has been voted the 2017 Car of the Year in Geneva, the first Peugeot SUV to win, but the 5th Car of the Year award for Peugeot.
It’s the Geneva Motor Show week this week, which means it’s time to announce the winner of the Car of the Year. And the 2017 going goes to – the Peugeot 3008 SUV.Entirely vindicating Peugeot’s decision to turn the 3008 from a slightly awkward – if actually quite good – MPV in to a trendy SUV for families, the new 3008 is the first Peugeot SUV to win the award, but the 5th Peugeot in a line running back to the 1969 504.
We’ve yet to drive the 3008 (it’s coming later this month), but the move from MPV to SUV has made the 3008 a convincing package, with its i-Cockpit and upmarket interior wrapped up in a convincing looking soft-road SUV body.
Peugeot’s Jean-Philippe Imparato said:
I am particularly proud and very pleased that the all-new PEUGEOT 3008 SUV has just won the 2017 ‘Car of the Year’ prize. This trophy is the culmination of five years of incredible work by the brand’s teams and our group.
The Car of the Year award is given by a panel made up of 58 motoring journalists from 22 countries.
