Infiniti QX80 Monograph heading for New York Motor Show debut
The first image of the Infiniti QX80 Monograph as Infiniti demonstrate the direction their big SUV is going ahead of a debut at the Geneva Motor Show.
Infiniti make some interesting cars, and although they don’t seem to have quite nailed it with their offerings in the UK and Europe their cars are appealing and do offer a credible, slightly left-field, alternative to mainstream premium options. But although Infiniti offers compact cars like the Q30 and Qx30, saloons like the Q50 and Q70, Coupes like the Q60 and SUVs like the Q70, one car we don’t get in the UK is the enormous QX80.
But Infiniti has decided to issue a UK press release for the Infiniti QX80 Monograph – pictured above for the firts time ahead of the New York Motor Show – which suggests it might be planning to bring the rather in yer face QX80 to the UK and Europe.
Said to show the direction Infiniti’s design is heading, the QX80 is certainly a bold statement with its bluff nose and huge grill, looking for all the world like it could drive through anything it chooses. It’s not a subtle SUV.
The current QX80 is based on the Nissan Patrol, so it’s an able beast – if very large – and provides oodles of room for passengers and stuff, and this QX80 Monograph is said to apply Infiniti’s latest design language in a sculptural and artistic way.
Roland Krueger, Infiniti President, said:
The QX80 Monograph represents a detailed study into our expertise of exterior design.
QX80 Monograph shows our concept of luxury and style on the road, and is an exploration into how we could enhance our future INFINITI offering in the luxury SUV segment.
If you want to see just how big and bold the QX80 Monograph is, you can see it at the New York Motor Show from 11 April. Although you could just look out of the window as you fly in to JFK to spot the QX80, as it’s only slightly smaller than the Yankee Stadium.

Monograph? Monolith, surely.
