The Lamborghini Aventador S Roadster is revealed ahead of a debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show as Lamborghini add open-top fun to the Aventador S.
It was just before Christmas that Lamborghini revealed the Aventador S – a new, more powerful, take on the range-topping Aventador, and you might have thought they would have rolled out a Roadster version soon after in time for summer. But they didn’t.But now, ahead of a debut at the Frankfurt Motor SHow, Lamborghini has revealed the Aventador without a roof – the new Lamborghini Aventador S Roadster.
Costing a smidge over £300,000, the premium for losing the roof is around £30k over the Aventador S Coupe, but there seems to be very few other downsides.
Yes, the S Roadster does take 3.0 seconds to 62 mph (0.1s slower than the Coupe) thanks to a 50kg weight boost, but the full 730bhp and 509lb/ft of torque from the Aventador’s V12 will still you get you to 217mph if you can find anywhere to do it.
Also in the mix is the new Active Suspension, new four-wheel steering, an ‘EGO’ setting to dial-in your own set-up preferences, Carbon Ceramic brakes, active rear wing and the same aerodynamic additions as the Coupe.
The removable roof is a hardtop – no ‘origami’ roof like previous Murcielagos – weighs in at a decent 6kg to make it easy to fit and remove and store in the front boot, and you can even have it personalized in a variety of finishes.
The Lamborghini Aventador S costs £301,754 and first deliveries are expected in spring 2018.
