Land Rover Defender Works V8 sees the RETURN of Land Rover’s Iconic 4×4

There’s a new Land Rover Defender – the Land Rover Defender Works V8 – with V8 power as a limited edition of just 150 Defenders to celebrate Land Rover’s 70th Anniversary. Price from £150,000.

Land Rover has decided they’re going to celebrate their 70th Anniversary in 2018 by resurrecting the Defender, which went out of production two years ago, with a very expensive limited edition of just 150 – the Land Rover Defender Works V8.

As the name suggest, this is the first V8 Defender in a generation, and gets Land Rover’s V8 in naturally aspirated guise where it’s good for 399bhp, enough to take the Defender to 62mph in a rather scary 5.6 seconds, and on to over 100mph.

The Defender V8 gets an eight-speed ZF automatic gearbox with ‘Sports’ mode, uprated brakes, new springs, dampers and anti-roll bars and a set of 18″ alloys shod with all terrain rubber.

You’ll be able to choose from eight colours – all with contrasting black roof, wheel arches and grille – with machined aluminium door handles, fuel cap and bonnet lettering and bi-LED headlights.

Inside there’s Windsor leather everywhere you look, including the Recaro Sports Seats, and Land Rover’s Classic Infotainment System.

Land Rover Classics are re-engineering 150 Defenders to the V8 Works spec in both 90 and 110 guise, with the Works V8 90 costing from £150,000.

That’s more than the new Mercedes G 63 is expected to cost, and more than a range-topping Range Rover SVAutobiography.

But if you want a V8 Defender, at least from Land Rover, that’s what you’ll need to pay.
