Infiniti Q Inspiration is the BEST Concept at Detroit
The Infiniti Q Inspiration Concept, revealed at the Detroit Motor Show and featuring Infiniti’s new VC Engine, has been voted the best concept and the best interior in show.
The reveal of the Infiniti Q Inspiration Concept at the Detroit Motor Show this week wasn’t exactly a surprise, as Infiniti had already delivered photos of the front and back of the Concept ahead of its debut. But what was more of a surprise was that Infiniti chose to power it with their new variable compression engine technology, rather than some sort of electric propulsion.
The new engine is Infiniti’s answer to the problem of economy and emissions in ICE engines, and uses continuously variable compression ratios and, says Infiniti, delivers V6 levels of performance with the efficiency of a four-cylinder.
But it’s the design of the Q Inspiration which has caught the imagination of the Detroit crowd, and seen it voted the best Concept and Best Interior at the show by EyesOn Design.
Its short bonnet and elongated cabin, glass canopy and coupe profile attempts to re-design the traditional three-box saloon, and do so quite convincingly.
It’s a look already coming to the fore with the design constraints of a big engine at the front disappearing from downsizing and electrification, and Infiniti has pulled off a good looking car.
Other highlights of the design include rear-hinged doors and smooth surfacing, and the interior gets a raft of digital displays, a full-length centre console and a raft of ProPilot autonomous driving technologies.
