The Mercedes-AMG GT four-door – a rival for the Porsche Panamera and replacement for the CLS 63 AMG – appears in testing photos ahead of a debut at the Geneva Motor Show.
The Mercedes-AMG GT Concept four-door arrived at the Geneva Motor Show in 2017 to preview a four-door AMG to take on the Porsche Panamera, and now it’s heading for the 2018 Geneva Motor Show as a production model.Effectively replacing the Mercedes CLS 63 AMG, the four-door AMG GT looks to be largely the same as the 2017 Concept, although its hybrid powertrain probably won’t arrive at launch.
That powertrain was a stonking 800bhp plug-in hybrid, but it looks like the four-door AMG GT will arrive with the same powertrain as the E 63 S, which means 604bhp from its 4.0 litre V8 Turbo.
That will offer impressive performance, but we’re also expecting different power hybrids to sit below the range-topping 800bhp version, with versions offering 670bhp and 740bhp fitting in to the range. Although it will probably be 2019 before they arrive.
As a four-door Coupe, the AMG GT won’t be a stripped-out performance car, and is expected to come with an interior not dissimilar to Mercedes latest offerings, complete with big screens, lashings of leather and a plethora of high tech systems.
The Mercedes AMG GT four-door is expected to go on sale at the end of the summer after its debut at Geneva.
