The new, third generation, Kia Ceed is revealed ahead of a Geneva debut with new sharper styling, more upmarket interior and promising a better ‘Drive’.
Going up against cars like the Volkswagen Golf and Ford Focus is no easy task, but Kia’s cee’d has been making headway as a very good offering. And now it gets better. The new Kia Ceed, with the apostrophe dropped from its name, debuts at the Geneva Motor Show next month, and has been revealed by Kia ahead of its public debut.
The new Ceed is a bit bigger than the current car, and it comes with new styling which is less rounded and sharper looking, with a new wider ‘Tiger’ grille, ‘Ice Cube’ running lights and an altogether more dynamic look.
Inside still looks like a Kia, but there has been a push upmarket with higher quality materials, with a floating (plonked on the top) infotainment screen, a driver-centric centre console tilted towards the driver, metallic or satin chrome trim and leather on the posher models.
Safety and driver assist stuff includes auto lights, Keyless, Bluetooth, heated windscreen, Lane Follow Assist, Adaptive Cruise, Park Assist, Blind Spot and Collision Avoidance (although many are options).
Under the skin there’s a new independent suspension setup and quicker steering to help with dynamics and make the Ceed more comfortable, and a wide range of engine options.
They include a 120PS version of the 1.0 litre petrol, a new 1.4 litre with 140PS and an entry-level 1.4 with a more modest 100PS, with 115PS and 136PS versions of the 1.6 litre diesel on offer too.
The new Kia Ceed will debut in Geneva and is expected to go on sale in the summer.
