The Ferrari 488 Pista is revealed as Ferrari’s new Special Series car, complete with 711bhp from its 3.9 litre V8 turbo, a weight drop and 0-62mph in 2.85 seconds.
The Ferrari 488 Pista arrives – not the 488 Challenge Stradale, not the 488 Scuderia and not the 488 Speciale, but the 488 ‘Track’ – and immediately becomes the most powerful V8 Ferrari ever.Assuming you take all the right options, the 488 Pista loses 90kg for a dry weight of just 1,280kg, and adds an extra 50bhp for a total of 711bhp – and a smidgen of extra torque – to enable it to scoot to 62mph in just 2.85 seconds, 124mph in 7.6 seconds and on to 211mph.
Ferrari has taken the lessons learned with the 488 GTE to tweak the Pista’s aerodynamics, with front and rear diffusers, rear spoiler and underbody vortex generators all playing a part to stick the Pista to the ground, delivering 20 per cent more downforce than the 488 in the process.
The electronics have been tweaked too, with ‘Ferrari Dynamic Enhancer’ arriving to adjust brake pressure at the calipers, resulting in extra pace and predictability.
Ferrari has also enhanced the sound of the Pista, there’s an F1-inspired S-Duct and front diffusers, racing livery with a big statement stripe, 20″ carbon fibre wheels, bespoke Michelin tyres, Side-Slip Angle Control system and a bit of a pared back interior.
The Ferrari 488 Pista will get its public debut at the Geneva Motor Show next month. Ferrari isn’t saying when the Pista will go on sale, or how much it will cost. But it will be over £200k.
